Nokia to Re-enter Smartphone business in 2017. Capital Markets Day was held on November 15,2016 for investors. On that event Nokia revealed that 2017 will represent “Nokia brand’s return to smartphones.”

As now the company doesn’t have required manufacturing facilities, Nokia will rope in Finland based company HMD Global, to manufacture the smartphones.

HMD Global who bought the rights to launch Nokia phones will reportedly manufacture, sell and advertise the upcoming devices.

HMD Global CMO Pekka Rantala said in a statement :

Nokia is a truly iconic, globally recognised and trusted brand. As the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablets, our ambition was to find a like-minded agency who grasped both the opportunity and responsibility in bringing a new product range to market.

The reports revealed that brand’s first priority will be a global launch campaign for the next generation of Nokia smartphones, indicating the launch of new Nokia phones in 2017. It will be done by an advertising agency named Mother.
